About VAROD Canada

VAROD (Vanni Rehabilitation Organization for the Differently Abled) Canada is a non-profit organization, established in 2012 as an arm of VAROD (Sri Lanka) is a charitable organization established to provide support to the differently abled, who are unable to live normal lives without financial support. VAROD’s mission is to empower the differently abled to become part of mainstream society. This involves the provision of all the necessary services, like housing, food, clothing, education, medical care, occupational training and so forth.

VAROD Canada was established by a few friends who were asked by Varod Sri Lanka for financial assistance to enable them to archieve their goals. These members have dedicated themselves to providing the help needed to VAROD and to providing assistance to local communities where necessary.The organization hopes to support the cause in many ways, such as raising funds, sponsoring differently-abled kids and working with the local community centers.

The organization wishes to make a difference in people’s lives and there is no shortage of passion or energy by its members for this objective.

Mission with a Vision

To assist and support the needy who are primarily in North and East Sri Lanka and in our local community. To enable the differently abled and needy to live sustainable and fulfilling lives, to enable them to become economically independent so they can become part of the mainstream of society.

Sinnadurai Jeyakumar

Sinnadurai Jeyakumar is a structural engineer with over 30years experience of entrepreneurship. He graduated from the University of South Bank in United Kingdom, and started his company, Innovative Detailing Services Inc. in 1992.

He is also an active member of the community including business, political, and charitable organizations. He was the president of the Canadian Tamils’ Chamber of Commerce from 2013 – 2015. He was the Project Coordinator of the Canada Kandasamy temple building project. He supports local Hospital programs and his philanthropy spreads to initiatives in Sri Lanka to help children affected by war, through organizations such as VAROD and Anpuneri.

His active participation helps him exceed in his professional, personal, and communal life.

Lawrence Santhiyapillai

Lawrence Santhiyapillai is a committed individual who believes in helping others and providing as much assistance as he can. He is compassionate and caring, and will make sure his friends and family are happy and healthy. He applies all these qualities and more to his work in VAROD Canada. He lives by VAROD’s message, and tries his very best to provide a solution to every issue. He never fails to exemplify positivity and determination.

Lawrence is married with three as he can. He is compassionate and caringchildren and works as a test engineer.

Donald Joseph

Donald Joseph was born to a devout Catholic family and from an early age, he was taught the values of giving back and helping those in need. This code of ethics would shape his relentless passion and drive to help others as he grew older.

He never fails to respond to a call for help or a cry of distress. He brings this innate generous nature and passion to VAROD Canada and the committee knows, they can always rely on him.

Donald is an IT Consultant and is married with two children.

Victor Louis

Victor Louis is an accounting professional married with three children. Grew up in the Catholic community and realized the need for charity. Joined VAROD Canada to offer services to people in need.

Ravi Kanagasabey

Ravi Kanagasabey, proud father of four wonderful children. Completed Electronic Engineering Diploma at Humber College and soon after started my own company called Arthur Fire Protection. Arthur Fire Protection is one of the leading companies in Fire Protection service which has been serving the industry over 16 years and furthermore it is the first fire protection company in the Tamil community. In 2013 Ravi won the prestigious CTCC Entrepreneur of the year award.

Strong believer in giving back to the community and this is one of the reasons I joined VAROD as a board of director.

Walter I Sebastian

Walter Sebastian was born in Sri Lanka and raised in Canada. As he is a devoted Catholic, he seeks to adhere the Catholic social teachings such as “Love of God and Love of Neighbor” and “Life and Dignity of the Human Person”. This is one of the main reason Walter was part of creating VAROD Canada and being exceedingly delight of assisting the neediest.

Walter is an IT professional with over 20 years of experience in public and private sectors, and currently living in Ajax, Ontario with his wife and two children.

Jude Francis

Jude Francis, contribution to the community is at the heart of all of Jude Francis’s efforts, whether it’s support for Scarborough hospitals or his work as a founding member of VAROD Canada.

Jude is president and CEO of JC’s Group of Companies, a wide portfolio of titles from JC’s Banquet Hall and JC’s Grill Houses, to his latest project, Solace Jaffna, bringing a major condominium, banquet hall and convention centre to his home region of Sri Lanka.

Sutha Arumugam

Suthaharan Arumugam has always believed in the importance of supporting those who are less fortunate and in need, as there is nothing more rewarding than giving back and making a difference in another’s life and community.

He always lends a helping hand and tries to help others through his involvement with VAROD Canada.

He is working as Senior Financial Reporting Analyst at CIBC Mellon and married with three children.
